Poule & Poulette Mechelen

Checked out Poule en Poulette in Mechelen for Maanrock, and it did not disappoint! I’ve enjoyed their chicken before, but this was my first time dining in. You can’t miss Poule & Poulette with its playful, funky interior, think cosy seating boxes where you eat like chickens on sticks! The vibe is as honest and authentic as the food, with raw materials like scaffolding wood, Shou Sugi Ban, and metal floors setting the scene.

And if you’re into chicken but lean vegetarian or plant-based, they’ve got you covered! Thanks to The Vegetarian Butcher and QINTI, ten of their dishes now come in the tastiest veggie or vegan versions. Locations in Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Leuven, Mechelen, and Ostend.

I took the pulled chicken tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend that when you’re there.

Fun fact

At Poule & Poulette, you actually eat “as chickens on a perch”, their patented seating system uses stacked “cosy sitting‑boxes,” so you can sit either above or below, just like perching chickens.
