Pureto in Gent is a fast-casual comfort food concept founded by Ghent-based brothers Gilles and Gaétan. Inspired by their grandmother’s creamy mashed-potato recipes, they reimagined traditional puree bowls with modern flair, complete with sauces, proteins, plant-based options, and fresh toppings.
Prior to the restaurant, they gained attention with a food truck and pop‑ups at local festivals like Gent Smaakt.
Pureto offers a fun, hearty, and heartfelt eating experience in the centre of Ghent. It mixes the cosiness of grandmother’s mashed potatoes with a modern, customizable twist, making it both nostalgic and trendy.

Em’s star rating
Tried Pureto in Gent, and it was pure comfort food done right. The Cosy Classic was creamy, warming, and perfectly balanced, while the Sweet Smash added a fun twist with great flavour combinations. Simple, satisfying, and a spot I’d gladly return to.
Fun Fact
Pureto started as a food truck and quickly became a social media sensation with clips of their creative mashed potato bowls reaching millions of views before they even opened their first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Gent. It was so popular that at the restaurant’s opening, they gave away the first 100 bowls for free, drawing long lines of fans eager to try their modern take on comfort food.
