TAZU Antwerp

TAZU is a cocktail bar and restaurant tucked away in the historic Vlaaikensgang alley in the centre of Antwerp. Set inside one of the city’s oldest buildings, the space features a minimalist interior designed by curator and designer Axel Vervoordt, with contemporary art pieces and handcrafted ceramics enhancing the atmosphere. The venue combines a cocktail lounge, sushi counter and dinner area, offering an experience that blends high-end drinks with Asian-inspired cuisine in a single setting.

The menu at TAZU emphasises fresh, Japanese-influenced small plates and sushi, including variations such as uramaki with tuna and chives, ebi furai futomaki with cucumber and avocado, and classic hosomaki with sake and salmon, all designed to complement the cocktail assortment. The bar also experiments with seasonal and creative mixed drinks inspired by Asian flavours, reflecting its dual identity as both a cocktail destination and a dining venue.

TAZU is a stylish cocktail bar and restaurant. I absolutely loved the sushi we tried. The menu leans on seasonal small plates and sushi classics such as uramaki with tuna and chives, futomaki ebi furai with cucumber and avocado, and hosomaki with salmon, alongside creative dishes and a broad sake list that complements the drinks. The setting makes the whole experience even better.

Fun fact

TAZU is tucked away in the historic Vlaaikensgang, one of Antwerp’s oldest alleyways, and its interior was designed by acclaimed Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt, blending original medieval architecture with a calm, contemporary lounge and art-inspired atmosphere.
