Tangthai in Mechelen is a cosy Thai restaurant. When you walk in, the cosy interior and soft Thai ambience instantly transport you: wood tones, subtle lighting and a calm, welcoming vibe.

The food is straightforward and really delicious. The pad thai tastes fresh instead of overly sweet, and wok dishes still have a bit of crunch. Vegetarians and vegans have plenty to choose from, too.

Service adds to the experience. Staff stay attentive, friendly and open to adjustments in spice levels or ingredients.

The Mix Tangthai was vibrant and full of flavour, a perfect way to start. The Pad Thai with chicken was perfectly balanced, with the noodles cooked just right and a delicious savoury-sweet sauce. The Kaw Pad with shrimp was fresh, tasty, and full of aromatic Thai spices.

Fun Fact

Even though Tangthai started in 2014 as a tiny Thai take‑away with just a handful of seats tucked behind the city hall, it grew so popular that the owners eventually bought and renovated an entire old newspaper shop, converting it into a restaurant.
